Alan started his career as a joiner then progressed to the automatic door industry when it was in its early years initially working as an installation technician.  After gaining his stripes Alan went it alone for ten years running his own business installing and servicing automatic and industrial doors, gates and barriers.

Moving back into employment as technical manager for a variety of companies within the industry, Alan decided to share his knowledge when he became the training officer for GEZE UK Ltd with responsibility for training and assessing technicians.  It was his interest in this area that finally led him to become an NVQ Assessor over five years ago.

Alan sits on the Technical Committee for ADSA and has had direct involvement in the industry specific learning modules for the ADSA Apprenticeship.

Dave has been an NVQ Assessor and Internal Verifier for 18 years.  He started working in the Industrial Door and Loading Bay Equipment industry in 1976 after serving a 6-year electrical apprenticeship and working as an electrician.

He initially started in the industry with Crawford Door and over the years gained experience in roller shutters and entrance doors as Crawford bought into these other industries. He finished his gainful employment with Ellard Control equipment as Chief Engineer.

When assessing an engineer, he not only looks for experience and knowledge of the products in which they are being assessed, but also in their ability to identify and resolve potential problems with a job.

When not carrying out NVQ Assessments, Dave delivers training on behalf of DHF, and in his spare time he is a keen gardener working in his large garden and allotment.
